Join us in walking around Woodbridge North Lake in Irvine. This is a lovely walk around a duck-filled lake in a beautiful park-like setting. The walk is about 1 kilometer around, and the group will do as few or as many laps as it desires. Robin will be leading this walk. DIRECTIONS: The address is Lake & Barranca Parkway in Irvine. This 4.5 mile stress buster POWERWALK (fast/brisk pace) will LEAVE PROMPTLY at 9:30AM beginning at the RALPHS Grocery store in COSTA MESA at the corner of 17th ST & TUSTIN AVE. Let's walk the beautiful Bolsa Chica Wetlands! The walk will take us on paths through the mostly flat wetlands, where countless of water fowl make their home or stop to rest and feed before traveling again on their migratory path. Bordered on one side by Pacific Coast Highway and oil fields and houses on the other, Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve wetlands is a 300 acre coastal sanctuary for wildlife and migratory birds. There's a wooden bridge crossing over a tidal inlet and a 3.5 mile loop trail providing spectacular wildlife viewing. This walk takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes or 30 minutes to complete, depending on the pace of the group. Wear walking shoes (tennis shoes OK), sun protection, and bring a light jacket in case it is cool. You might want to bring a water bottle. There is a portapotty at the nature center if you need one. DIRECTIONS: The Bolsa Chica Wetlands Interpretive Center is located at 3842 Warner Avenue, which is at the southeast corner of Warner Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway. PARKING: Park where you can find a space in the lot next to the Interpretive Center. The lot fills up fast on the weekend.
